Warson Capital Partners is the fund manager of Warson Capital Fund I, L.P., a private equity fund formed in 2009. The Fund is in the process of completing a targeted first-fund total of $30 million under management.
The principal objectives of Warson Capital Fund I are to:
- Generate substantial capital gains through execution of the Fund’s investment strategy.
- Provide access to equity capital for emerging growth companies in St. Louis and the Midwestern United States.
- Add value to portfolio companies through the expertise of the Warson Capital Partners Management team and strategic relationships.
Civic and business leaders in St. Louis and the Midwestern United States have identified entrepreneurship and emerging growth companies as the future of our City and Region. Oftentimes, however, growth companies in the Midwest which are otherwise worthy of investment capital go unfunded, never reaching their true potential due in large part to a severe lack of local, diversified private equity firms available to support their capital needs. Warson Capital Partners believes this lack of funding alternatives provides a significant opportunity to achieve the Fund’s objectives through application of its investment strategy within our Region.
Every investment decision by our Fund is premised upon supporting a proven management team. The Fund targets investments in middle market growth companies with revenue above $2 million and up to $100 million located in the Midwestern United States. While earnings and EBITDA are important, we understand that growth companies which are reinvesting in their balance sheet and infrastructure in support of business growth may be temporarily experiencing diminished EBITDA at the time of an investment.
Our investments range from $500,000 to $2 million, typically in the form of first-round, second-round, or bridge financings. Smaller investments may be made on a stand-alone basis while larger investments of up to $2 million may be made in syndication with other private equity firms, including transactions arranged by Warson Capital Partners and otherwise. We will co-invest with strategic investors under certain circumstances as well. Opportunistic situations such as companies with balance sheet challenges or other distress are considered in light of business fundamentals and long-term prospects.
The Warson Team has many collective years of experience in several industries which are targeted for investment, including the following:
- Information Technology
- Healthcare and Life Sciences
- Financial Services; Banking
- Defense Contractors
- Consumer Products
- Service Industry
We believe our diversified investment strategy enables the Fund to make equity capital available to a broad spectrum of emerging growth companies in St. Louis and throughout the Midwest. Although our primary stated focus is on growth companies, Warson Capital Partners will also consider situations involving recapitalizations, family succession, leveraged buyouts, management buy-ins, and similar transactions. Our investments take the form of both minority and majority equity stakes.
