Michael E. Thaman
Mike Thaman is a co-founder, Managing Director and CEO of Warson Capital Partners and its predecessor business, Frontenac Financial Group, Inc., and a member of our investment committee. Founded in 1994, Frontenac — now Warson Capital Partners — has successfully served the capital needs of emerging growth companies nationally and internationally with a focus on St. Louis and the Midwestern United States for over 15 years. Throughout this time, Mike has focused on sourcing capital for growth companies as well as buy-side and sell-side merger and acquisition transactions, particularly in the areas of financial institutions, healthcare and medical devices, information technology, defense, manufacturing and services.
Prior to co-founding Frontenac in 1994, Mike served as President and CEO of NationsMart Corporation, a start-up multi-unit retail company based in St. Louis and funded through a successful IPO in 1993. Previously, Mike served as President of New Legends Associates, Inc. in a successful turn-around of a troubled planned community development encompassing 1,000 acres of residential real estate and multiple golf course property located in St. Louis County, Missouri. He served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Landmark Bancshares Corporation, a $2.5 billion St. Louis-based bank holding company with 50 bank locations, from 1981 through 1991 when he concluded the successful merger of Landmark with St. Louis-based Magna Group Inc. (now Regions Bank) to form the region’s third largest banking group at that time. As Executive Vice President, Mike directed strategic expansion activities that doubled the number of Landmark retail branches in three years, and directed capital formation programs that raised over $100 million in a five-year period, listing Landmark’s stock on the American Stock Exchange and later on the New York Stock Exchange.
Mike is a certified public accountant and began his career in practice for ten years with the St. Louis office of KPMG, an international public accounting firm. He has served on the boards of directors of several privately held companies. He is involved in community service organizations as well as civic matters within the City of Frontenac, presently serving as Chairman of the City’s Public Works Commission, Deputy Architectural Design Commissioner, and a member of the City’s Facilities Steering Committee. Mike received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Missouri — Columbia.
